The City of Watertown is advising residents that elevated river levels are expected to persist throughout the week, with the Rock River forecasted to crest in the moderate flood stage by Thursday, based on current information as of April 21.
City staff are actively monitoring river levels, roadways, and areas impacted by flooding. As conditions change, updates will be shared with the community.
Jefferson County is also collecting local damage assessment information and reporting it to the State of Wisconsin. Residents who experience damage should document impacts and can be directed to the Public Works Department at (920) 262-4060
Residents who are concerned about potential flooding impacts to their property may obtain sandbags at the Street Department, located at 811 S. First Street, during normal business hours, 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Residents are asked to check in at the front desk prior to pickup. Outside of business hours, sandbags will be available at the Street Department on S. Second Street near Clyman Street.
Due to high water levels and safety concerns, the following areas are currently closed:
• Riverside Park
• Tivoli Island
Residents are reminded to:
• Avoid driving through flooded or barricaded roadways
• Respect all posted closures
• Use caution near riverbanks, as they may be unstable
• Move valuables from basements or low-lying areas if flooding becomes a concern
To help residents stay informed, Jefferson County has developed an online dashboard showing flood-related road closures across the county. The dashboard is updated daily by 9:00 a.m.:
