Fall leaf collection in the City of Watertown will begin Monday, October 20, starting in Zone 3. Crews will move through the city by zone each week. If a zone is completed before the end of the week, crews will move ahead to the next zone, but leaf collection will always begin each Monday in the designated zone for that week.
Residents have three options for disposing of leaves this season:
Bag It: Place leaves only in compostable paper bags (or reuse paper grocery bags). Fold the top closed—please don’t seal—and set the bags at the edge of your grass, not in the street. Non-leaf materials will be tagged and left at the curb.
Benefits include completing yard work on your own schedule, keeping storm drains clear, protecting local waterways, and reducing the overall cost of the leaf collection program.Rake It: Rake leaves to the edge of the boulevard, not into the curb or street. Avoid parking vehicles near leaf piles to allow crews full access during pickup.
Drop It Off: Residents may also deliver leaves to the Yard Waste Site, where they can dump loose leaves or compostable bags in the appropriate pile.
Keeping leaves out of the street and storm drains helps prevent local flooding and improves water quality in our rivers and streams. Thank you for helping keep Watertown clean, green, and beautiful this fall!
