Watertown, Wis. (August 12, 2025) – Due to recent significant rain events, water levels between the Upper and Lower Dams in the City of Watertown have risen substantially. In the interest of public safety and to prevent property damage, the City has issued a No Wake Advisory for this area effective immediately.
Residents and visitors are urged to exercise extreme caution when navigating the Rock River within city limits. Elevated water levels can create hazardous conditions, including strong currents, submerged debris, and reduced visibility of potential obstacles.
The No Wake Advisory requires boaters to operate at the slowest possible speed necessary to maintain control and headway. This measure is essential to minimize wave action that could worsen flooding, increase shoreline erosion, and cause damage to waterfront properties.
The City of Watertown will continue monitoring river conditions and will provide updates as the situation changes. We appreciate the cooperation of all residents and visitors in adhering to this advisory to help ensure the safety of our community and the protection of our natural resources.
