Watertown, Wis. (July 29, 2025) – The City of Watertown’s Mayor Robert Stocks and Manager of Economic Development and Strategic Initiatives Mason Becker visited Spuncast, located at W6499 Rhine Rd, earlier this month. The City team toured the manufacturing facility, which originally opened in 1976 and has been added onto several times since.
The visit was part of the City’s continued efforts to conduct Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) visits to learn about and support Watertown’s businesses. [EM1] The tour was given by Kyle Reading, CEO of Spuncast. Greg Whitman, President, also met with the City’s team to provide additional information.
The visit was Mayor Stocks’ first official BRE visit to a local business since taking office, in continuation of the City’s ongoing efforts to keep in touch with and hear about the needs of local businesses and employers.
Mr. Reading[KR2] , who has been with Spuncast for 22 years and originally started in the accounting department, shared some of the history of the company.
“We specialize in centrifugal casting in our foundry, which leads to a higher quality product. They produce castings by heating metal between 2500 and 3000 degrees. We also help to conserve resources by reusing scrap metal that comes in from all over the United States,” said Mr. Reading. “We can do casts in a variety of sizes, up to 209 inches long and 109 inches diameter”.
“Most of our employees commute from within 30-35 minutes of here. We employ 130 people currently and run three shifts per day. We’re proud to be a 100 percent Employee-Owned ESOP company,” Mr. Reading added.
“Spuncast is a great success story within the Watertown area. They have continued to innovate in the manufacturing space and have also continued to invest in both their equipment and their personnel,” said Becker. “Their products are used throughout North America in mining and other industries, and speak to the demand for high quality, precision manufactured products made right here in our community.”
“I enjoyed being able to meet with members of the Spuncast team and tour their facility. I mentioned that many years ago, I made deliveries here when I worked for UPS. It’s great to see how they’ve continued to grow, including opening a second on-site foundry several years ago. Spuncast uses proven technology to make their products, and I appreciate their presence in our area,” said Mayor Stocks.
