District 3 Alderperson Vacancy
Watertown, Wis. (May 3, 2023) – At the May 2nd, 2023 Common Council meeting, the Watertown Common Council voted to appoint a District 3 alderperson by majority vote at its June 6th meeting. The District 3 Alderperson seat became available in April when an alder was elected but did not take the oath of office.
“Appointment of an aldermanic seat is something that happens occasionally if a current alder must move away from the physical voting district or an elected candidate is unable to take their seat,” says Megan Dunneisen, City of Watertown Clerk. “The Common Council then decides collectively on the procedure for filling the vacant seat. The Council has decided to accept applications and fill the position as quickly as possible while still giving citizens time to consider the position and apply."
Applicants must live within District 3 boundaries in the City of Watertown and may contact City Clerk Megan Dunneisen for an application or download the application from the city website. Applications must be completed and received at City Hall on or before 4:30 p.m. on May 26th, 2023.
